The
JEE Main exam, conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE),
was held recently across the country. One of the most important entrance exams
for engineering aspirants, the offline exam was held on April 4, 2015, while
the online test was held on April 10 and April 11, 2015. The results are
expected to be out on 27th April 2015.
It
is usual for students to be interested in knowing how they performed in tests.
Thus, by now you must have used some kind of rank predictor tool to get an idea about your JEE Main
2015 rank. But are you confused which college you should join after the results
are out? There are a lot of things that one should keep in mind while making
the right decisions.
It
would be a great disaster to make a bad decision after months of preparation.
Here are some tips that will help you with choosing the right college and
branch after during the counseling:
·
Choosing the College
Deciding a
college is one of the most important parts of counseling. If you have a good
rank you will have a lot of options to choose from. This makes it very confusing
to decide the right college. In that case make sure of all the criteria that
you are looking for like location and if the college is providing the branch
that you are interested in. Some colleges have better faculty and
infrastructure for particular branches.
If you are not
lucky to get a good rank, it becomes a tough decision. Though there a lot of colleges accepting
JEE main rank, you should check out the about the infrastructure and the faculty
present there. But the most important of all is the placement scenario. Do some
research about the college’s placement scenario of the last three years?
·
Choosing the Branch
What is that
you were interested doing from childhood? Choose a branch that you have great
passion. Remember the thing that all branches have the same scope if you are
perfect in it. It is a misconception that some branches have better scope and
offer better placements.
You need to do
a bit of self introspection before choosing the branch. Just make some pointers
of what you are good at and then go for it. It may happen that you may not get
a chance in one of the top colleges like IIT but not the branch you want. Are
you willing to sacrifice your passion for a college? This is a question to
ponder upon. If you know you will be able to do well in the subject and have a
bit of interest you should definitely go for such a chance, otherwise focus on
your interest.
·
Check Before you Finalize
Before you finalize and freeze on the colleges, double check all the details about the
colleges and the branches that you are applying for. Once you have finished
locking your choices it is difficult for changing your decision. You will have
to wait for the fourth round of counseling and spot round to change your preferences.
·
Take Guidance
Usually for the ease of counseling and to provide guidance, help centers are established all over
India. Visit these help centers for any queries regarding counseling. You can
also take the guidance of experts or those who have gone through the process
earlier. This will ease your tensions and go through the procedure smoothly.
